About
Yār on the Lake

Yār on the Lake marks a new chapter rooted in legacy, family, and community.

After more than two decades as a cornerstone of Westlake Village dining, the lakeside property enters a thoughtful reinvention—one that honors its past while embracing a more personal, forward-looking vision.

Reimagined by siblings Rouz and Mehrnoush Yazdanyar, Yār is deeply tied to their family’s story. Their father, Ebrahim Yazdanyar, immigrated from Iran in the 1980s, establishing roots in a community that would become synonymous with home. From that foundation grew a deep appreciation for gathering, generosity, and meaningful hospitality—values that now define the spirit of Yār.

The name itself, “Yār,” meaning friend, companion, or beloved, reflects the experience at its core: a place where guests are not simply served, but genuinely welcomed.

Blending Mediterranean coastal cuisine with Persian hospitality, Yār offers an experience that goes beyond the plate—where seasonal ingredients, warm service, and thoughtful details come together seamlessly.

While the space has been beautifully transformed, its essence remains the same: a dedication to creating meaningful moments around the table.
